2011 Battle of Midway

We had a lot of bad weather during the Battle of Midway competition. After 3 days, we completed 9 rounds. Even with the bad weather, it was still a great meet and we were pleased with our performance. Thank you Skydive Chicago!

Congratulations to Arizona Airspeed for winning 1st place in the FS event and to SDC Standard for 1st place in VFS!

2011 Apr XP Tunnel Camp

We had our 3rd XP tunnel camp on Apr. 9-10.

We concentrated on random work and picking up the speed!

We started the day on Saturday working on our individual flying skills and then went straight into randoms.

Our last session was awesome. Even after a long day and being tired, our last session really showed how much we had accomplished.

2011 Shamrock Showdown

The Furies had their first jump training camp and competition for the season in DeLand, Florida.

We arrived on Saturday, March 12th which was a week prior to the Shamrock Showdown competition in order to do some practice. We made 24 training jumps over three days. Our training was dedicated to mainly block moves and after the first day, we saw many improvements. We started keeping our formations tighter and making smaller moves.

The competition was a lot of fun and we had some great moments! We were proud of our performance and have identified the areas we need to work on in order to meet our goals.

2011 Feb. XP Tunnel Camp

The Furies had their second XP tunnel camp February 19-20.

Our coach Brian had us focus on B-slots which was very much needed. Thank you Brian!

Our tunnel times were not the best, but it did allow for us to have a morning photo shoot on Saturday! The Chad took some photos of us to create the cool artistic photo below! Thank you Chad!

Our first session didn’t start until 1:30 pm and we weren’t finished till 10:30 pm. What a full day of flying! We were so tired by the end of the day. We did however have some great moments. Block 18 is coming along quite nicely! Also, pizza for dinner was a great idea. Not sure who came up with that idea, but it was perfect.

Sunday, we had a little birthday celebration for Gosia. She was quite surprised when we brought out the cake! We hope you had a great birthday Gosia.

2011 Jan. XP Tunnel Camp

On January 29th, the Furies had their first tunnel camp for the 2011 season. It was a great camp.
Not only did we get some great training in, but we got to visit our favorite and hottest rig manufacturer, Sun Path Products!

We also got to do some 2 on 2 with our Coach Brian Johnson and Andy Delk. It was fun to step it up!

September 2010

The Skydive Chicago Furies competed in the USPA Nationals in September. The team participated in 4-way Open class. The competition started slowly on Saturday the 11th, due to low clouds. The team ended up finishing 3 rounds by sunset, even though the winds were blowing and caused a number of weather holds. The weather was much better on Sunday, where the team finished the remaining 7 rounds. The team ended in 11th place with a 12.1 average!!!
